History

LucJanuary 2000:  Five engineers with many years of experience in the water and wastewater technology create WATERLEAU. The new Environmental Solutions Provider quickly developes projects worldwide.

2001:  WATERLEAU adds air treatment technology to its portfolio with the acquisition of the air treatment division of Monsanto Enviro-Chem Systems (St Louis, Missouri, USA). This first step in WATERLEAU's diversification strategy leads to the acquisition of decades of experience and hundreds of ­references in the air treatment domain.

2002:  WATERLEAU acquires know-how and experience in process water and membrane technology leading to new industrial projects all over the globe.

2003:  WATERLEAU continues to invest in know-how and technology and creates a biosolids and waste treatment business. WATERLEAU 's innovation and R&D investments lead to proprietary technology in three complementary domains: WATER, AIR and WASTE.

2004: WATERLEAU acquires the Belgian company Biotim® (from the Suez group), one of the world leaders in anaerobic wastewater treatment, but also active in other branches of wastewater and water treatment, making WATERLEAU a top-3 player in anaerobic water treatment.

2005: WATERLEAU's dual strategy with focus on  technology/know-how  and network expansion lead to the start-up of two Joint Ventures in the emerging markets of India and China.

2006:  WATERLEAU acquires the activities of the French company Socrematic, and created a new 100% subsidiary in France, Waterleau France. This company becomes the centre of competence for all air treatment projects as well as the commercial centre for France and the French speaking countries.

2007: In order to service it's clients all over the world, WATERLEAU creates At-Your-Service, it's global operations, maintenance and services division. WATERLEAU creates subsidiaries in Hong Kong and Macau in order to strenghten it's presence in the Asian market.

2008: WATERLEAU acquires Schepens Air and Solids, a specialist in the development and production of strategic parts of air treatment and sludge treatment plants. WATERLEAU opens its subsidiary in Morocco.

2009: WATERLEAU merges its Belgian legal entities. To support the growth two financial partners have invested in the young company: AQUA RESOURCES FUND Ltd (LSE) (www.aquaresourcesfund.com) and IDUFIN (www.indufin.be). Today, the founding management team still holds 100% of the shares.

2011: WATERLEAU further develops its global presence and opens subsidiaries in China, India, US, Egypt, Turkey, Algeria and Brazil.
